Foam Extinguishing Systems
Foam Extinguishing Systems

This system is used for extinguishing flammable liquid chemicals or fuels. Depending on their chemical properties, there are foam types such as protein-based, synthetic-based, film-forming, and alcohol-resistant. Foam suppression systems are designed to be either automatic or manual. Foam is generally used in suppression systems such as foam generators.

Foam is a chemical compound. When mixed with pressurized water, the mixture passes through a foam maker, where it combines with air to create foam. The foam completely covers the fire surface like a blanket, cutting off air contact, and also has a cooling effect. Therefore, it is an effective fire extinguisher.

Foam suppression systems are commonly used in tank farms, petrochemical plants, ports, fuel transfer stations, and aircraft hangars.
